FRESH ST MARKET IGA: LOCALLY OWNED & LOVED

Fresh St Market IGA is locally owned by Mike Shakes and his family. Their core values are to be the best they can, every day, and always be considerate of others. They are ably supported by a great team of staff, who work tirelessly across the multiple divisions to provide outstanding service and product range, at the best price, seven days a week. The Shakes family brought considerable supermarket industry experience with them, when they purchased Griffiths IGA  in 2000 which later became Atherton IGA and then rebranded to Fresh St Market IGA in 2018.

Their success is measured in team and shop growth and acknowledged with multiple awards, including winning two national awards for being the Best IGA in Australia. They value employing and supporting locals and providing quality products at the best price. Proud to be a part of the Atherton Tablelands community. FRESH ST MARKET IGA ATHERTON

Mike Shakes purchased a 750 square metre store in Atherton, in August 2000. Business success lead to growth and they built a new 2,700 square metre store in the current location in March 2009. They are proud to have retained many employees over the life of the business, and credit their success to that team dedication. Future plans include further floorspace expansion, to increase their already impressive product offering. According to the Shakes family, the best part of running the Fresh St Market IGA store, is having the freedom to make your own decisions when it comes to stock, store design and more.

THE IGA AWARDS OF EXCELLENCE

The IGA Awards of Excellence acknowledge the dedicated efforts of the stores and their teams in their local communities. They herald the winning stores as setting the benchmark for the 1,400 other independent supermarkets across the IGA retail network. There are six regions in QLD. Each region nominates a supermarket for the above awards. One supermarket is named the winner in the aforementioned categories. The state winners are then nominated for the national award, competing against the other states. The national awards are judged on a range of criteria, including what the store is famous for, customer service, community contribution, department excellence, brand values, sales, profits, merchandising, shopper experience and the store’s overall performance. We’re proud to have been recognised with so many awards.
