Fresh St Market IGA supports local farmers wherever possible. This not only helps to ensure their viability as primary producers and members of our local community, it ensures our customers are receiving the freshest products. That’s a win, win for everyone. In our Fruit and Vegetable department, we stock and sell local blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, bananas, potatoes, sweet potatoes, broccoli and so much more, pending seasonal availability. Our chicken comes from Steggles Mareeba and we have an extensive selection of egg and dairy products, from Stockman’s Eggs, Mungalli Creek Dairy, Gallo Dairy and Dairy Farmers.
Our Chop Shop has beef from Bingil Bay Beef and Malanda Meat Co and pork from Morganbury Meats. We’ve got Licks Icecream (Cairns), Tablelands Fresh homemade meals, Mary’s ravioli’s (Innisfail), Casa Pasta (Ingham), Ravenshoe Bread, Curcio’s Bakery (Mareeba) pies and sweets, local coffee from Tichum Creek, Coffee Works and Jacques Coffee as well as kombucha from Altitude Café (Lake Eacham). There’s many more and we always love to hear about new local products. So, when you shop with us at Fresh St Market IGA you’re supporting locals, who support locals, and it makes a difference. Here’s a word from some of our suppliers (see below).
RANGE OF SUPPLIERS: When Bones Knob Butchery was sold to Malanda Meat Co, we expanded our network of local beef suppliers. We now predominantly use Bingil Bay Beef. We do also work with Malanda Meat Co, as well as Morganbury Meats in Walkamin.
COFFEE WORKS: “Coffee Works has grown from humble beginnings, as a single market stall at Rusty’s Markets in Cairns in 1988. Selling locally at Fresh St Market IGA gives us great pleasure, as locals have the opportunity to introduce our coffee to their family and friends. We’re local and we thank Fresh St Market IGA for supporting us, by stocking our products.”
FNQ HONEY & BEES: “FNQ Honey & Bees have been supplying honey to Fresh St Market IGA since 2013. Their hives are located at numerous locations across the Tablelands, meaning their honey is locally flavoured. They get a lot of feedback from customers who say their honey is the best they’ve ever tasted and they say that makes their hard work worthwhile.”
MUNGALLI CREEK DAIRY: “Fresh St Market IGA was the first store to stock our products, almost 20 years ago and we’re proud to still be with them today. Mungalli Creek Dairy has an exciting future ahead, as we expand operations and introduce many new dairy products to the market. We can’t wait to see them on the shelves at Fresh St Market IGA and thank you for your support.”
STOCKMANS EGGS: “Stockman’s Eggs produce caged, free range and cage free eggs at their property in Kairi, in the Tablelands Golden Triangle. As a 4th generation farming business, they love being able to support their local supermarket, which is also family owned. That’s what we should all be about, supporting each other in community and work, where we can.”
WONDAREE MACADAMIAS: “The support of local businesses, like Fresh St Market IGA, carrying our product was instrumental in our early years and continues to be so today. Locals love to buy products produced on the Tableland, and food provenance is important for visitors. We planted our trees in 1984, started packing nuts in 1990 and have seen selling to Fresh St Market IGA for almost 20 years.”
