Fresh St Market IGA is proudly locally owned by the Shakes family, who are guided by the core value of striving to be their best every day. Supported by a dedicated team across multiple divisions, they work hard to deliver outstanding service and an extensive product range at great prices, seven days a week. The Shakes family is proud to be part of the Atherton Tablelands community and supporting the region has always been at the heart of the business — from sourcing local produce and providing local employment, to giving back through donations, prizes and even student scholarships. Our story timeline is below.
The Shakes family brought significant supermarket industry experience with them when they purchased the Atherton IGA, a 750sqm store located across the road from our current site, in 2000.
As the Tablelands grew so did we. Thanks to community support, we made the move to a new 2,700sqm store in Silo Shopping Centre. This opened in March 2009 and in March 2011, the store was crowned IGA Australia International Retailer of the Year.
In 2018, the store was rebranded as Fresh St Market IGA to reflect its modern market-style offering. In 2020 we once again secured the coveted IGA Australia International Retailer of the Year Award, reinforcing our dedication to providing an outstanding shopping experience for our customers.
